How to dry and press flowers with an iron

06.11.2019

A simple and fast DIY to dry and press the flowers with a tool that almost all of us have at home: the iron.

It is a very useful method for storing and reusing flowers, thus avoiding throwing them away.

Different types of flowers and leaves can be dried, whites will tend to yellow but colored flowers will retain their color!

Material:

  • Fresh flowers
  • 2 sheets of parchment paper
  • wooden board / chopping board
  • iron (steam off mode, removed the water from the inside, medium temperature)

Method:

Use the wooden cutting board as a support surface.

Put the first sheet of parchment paper on the cutting board, place the flower on it, arranging it for how we want it to dry and press the second sheet of parchment paper on it.

With a firm hand and without moving, we press the flower by pressing the iron at medium temperature over the sheet of paper with the flower underneath at 60-second intervals, until it is completely pressed and dried. We can turn the sheets from time to time and then press the flower on both sides.

We will be able to use the pressed flowers for different decorations, for example by gluing them on a card and making a personalized greeting card.
